Education is one of the most important careers in society. Without teachers, the next generation would not exist. Today’s teachers face poor working conditions, low pay and bad retirement. As the field is ever changing with undesirable circumstances, it is becoming increasingly harder to fill positions. An article released by CBS news says there are 280,000 fewer public school teachers post COVID-19. With an increased number of vacancies across the country, it is important that teachers are supported inside and outside of the classroom. Coming alongside teachers looks like ensuring they feel loved, seen and important during a time when teaching comes with extra baggage.
Meeting the needs of teachers starts by building strong relationships. Every Arkansan wants kids to see and know their full potential, teachers help us in this effort. To foster relationships with educators, the Arkansas Dream Center partners with Boone Park and Lakewood Elementary Schools in North Little Rock, and Martin Luther King Elementary School in Little Rock. Having a presence in these schools allows the Dream Center to check-in on students and find ways to better support the school so they can focus on teaching the next generation.
To celebrate and appreciate the teachers at our partner schools, Every Arkansan brought local ice-cream truck, Loblolly Creamery, to each school. Before the start of another year, Every Arkansan hoped to encourage the faculty and staff, and honor the impact they are making to see Every Arkansan chase their God-given dream.
